Lenten Fast

“when we fast, we turn from the things that grab our attention and we focus solely on God”  a lot of people admit that “its only 40 days, it won’t be that bad, i got this”; if what you’re giving up or sacrificing is not a challenge for you, then not only are you not benefitting yourself, but you’re also not benefitting what God can do. yes, we’re weak and human. but it’s not an excuse, you know? because its only in our weakness that God can lift us up and make us stronger. make your soul stronger than your flesh, there isn’t a “balance”. the stronger your spirit is, the more God will work through you.

of this world, i will sacrifice:

  • sleeping past 11 on weekdays, and 12 on weekends - i’ve gotten into such a bad habit of sleeping at one at nights, at three on the weekends.
  • cussing - i know i dont really seem like the one to cuss, but i do have my moments. and hopefully i’ll deplete this one from my system
  • putting my homework off to the last minute - procrastination at its finest. i will start doing my work the day i get it instead of waiting til the last period before its due to finish it.

and i will strengthen my faith by

  • praying the Rosary more - hopefully by 2 times a week and by the end of Lent, every day or every other day.
  • praying the Divine Mercy more - if cannot be said by time Holy Hour begins, say it whenever you have 10 minutes of free time.
  • reading the readings everyday if i don’t have the chance to go to daily mass.
  • trying my best to be more accountable for everyone instead of “choosing favorites” because, i’m not gonna even lie. i place some people closer to me than some others.

pray for me, i’ll pray for you. <3 we got this; from our sacrifices, something beautiful will come out of it in the end.
